It was an absolute pleasure to host the dedicated team from Keep Nebraska Beautiful and their associates at our American Steed facility. Their visit highlighted a shared passion: finding practical, powerful ways to protect our state’s environment. This inspiring conversation naturally turned to one of the most pressing local challenges—the growing mountain of electronic waste.

For many households and small businesses, old electronics pose a difficult question. What do you do with a decade-old computer, a drawer full of old cell phones, or a television that no longer works? These items can’t be thrown in the regular

trash due to hazardous materials, and they often contain sensitive personal data. This is where community action, powered by strong local partnerships, becomes essential.

The Power of Community Recycling Events

Community e-waste recycling drives are a cornerstone of effective environmental stewardship. They provide a safe, convenient, and accessible way for residents to dispose of their unwanted electronics responsibly. These events not only divert tons of hazardous material from our local landfills but also build a stronger, more environmentally-conscious community.

This is where a unique partnership model can create incredible value for Nebraska. We envision a collaboration between three key groups:

  1. Keep Nebraska Beautiful: As the community organizers, they bring the passion, volunteer network, and trusted name to mobilize public participation and promote the event.
  2. KNB Associates (Local Associates): As event sponsors, associates demonstrate their corporate social responsibility in a very tangible way. Hosting a drive in your parking lot or sponsoring a local event shows a direct commitment to the community you serve.
  3. American Steed (The ITAD Engine): We provide the professional infrastructure and certified expertise. Our team handles the secure logistics, on-site collection, and, most importantly, the certified data destruction and responsible recycling processes.

A Blueprint for Success

Imagine a Saturday morning where a local business, or a KNB associate, hosts a community recycling drive. The Keep Nebraska Beautiful banner is flying high as the American Steed truck arrives. Residents and/or employees can drop off their old electronics with confidence, knowing our professional team is on-site to ensure every device is handled securely. They receive peace of mind that their personal data will be completely destroyed according to the highest industry standards, and that all materials will be recycled responsibly, not shipped to a landfill.

This collaborative model is a true win-win-win. Residents get a free and secure service, sponsoring businesses build goodwill and a green reputation, and together, we all contribute directly to the Keep Nebraska Beautiful mission.
